Hi, I’m Zubin! Thanks for visiting my page.

I am a Singapore-based robotics engineer with a passion for 3D printing, coding, and developing intelligent systems. Currently, I’m a robotics and AI researcher at the National University of Singapore, working under the supervision of Professor Dean Ho, Chair of the Biomedical Engineering Department.

My research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of a companion robot in reducing teen anxiety through biometric monitoring and adaptive breathwork. To achieve this, I am developing a desktop robot called Zuzi equipped with biometric sensors that measure physiological data. Using AI to analyze the sensor feedback, the robot will guide users through personalized breath work patterns delivered via haptic movements, with its body expanding and contracting in rhythm to support the exercises. I’ve received the 1517 Fund Medici Grant for my work on Zuzi. The 1517 Fund backs young innovators taking on bold ideas, and I’m honored to join their community.

I am a student at United World College Singapore and love competing in triathlons and rock climbing.

I am Vice-President of Ethical Builders where I leads the robotics programme, which teaches robotics to children in Singapore and has conducted hands-on workshops for primary school students at the Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA). I also helped launch Next Gen Voices, Singapore’s first national inter-school debate on AI and Ethics at Singapore's iconic ArtScience Museum with some of Singapore’s leading schools participating.

In 2026, I was a robotics intern at the Robotics, Automation and Unmanned Systems Centre of Expertise at HTX, Singapore's science and technology agency for homeland security..

I gained hands-on experience with ROS2, autonomous navigation and robotic manipulation, including the use of LiDAR- based SLAM for mapping and navigation.

I assembled and programmed a 6-DOF robotic arm entirely from scratch and demonstrated repeatable pick-and-place motions while working through practical challenges in servo torque, power requirements, and motion control. This process gave me a strong appreciation for the engineering considerations involved in translating simulation and software into real-world robotic applications, including the integration of AI functions such as hand gesture tracking via Leap Motion sensors, which he used to convert hand movements into precise and smooth robotic motion.

I built my first electric car, the Z-Force Buggy, in 2022 and created Arro, a friendly sports-bot that delivered drinks for soccer players which was featured by FC Barcelona in 2019.

Beyond engineering, I have a strong interests in history and governance, particularly the study of institutions, power structures, and social systems.
